Kota Doria
Square checks called khats, woven from alternating cotton and silk. Feather-light and structured.
Two and a quarter metres of indigo kota doria with a hand-rolled hem on all four sides. Weighs under eighty grams. The thing we send most often as a gift.
Kota doria is built from a grid — alternating cotton and silk threads in both directions create tiny square windows the weavers call khats. Traditionally the yarn is dressed with onion juice and rice paste before weaving, which stiffens it just enough to hold the grid open. The result weighs almost nothing and is transparent enough to need lining, but it holds a hem crisply. Kaithoon, outside Kota, is where nearly all of it is still made, mostly by women weaving at home.
Hand wash cold, no wringing. The khat structure relaxes if twisted. Dry flat in shade.
Complimentary shipping across India on orders above ₹5,000. Dispatched from Bengaluru.
Seven-day exchange or store credit on unworn pieces with tags attached. See the refund policy for how refunds are handled.
