Mul Cotton

The softest cotton we work with. Nearly translucent, and it improves with every wash.

Description

Kora means undyed — this is mul exactly as it came off the loom, washed twice and nothing else. A boxy short kurta over wide drawstring trousers. The most forgiving thing we make in July.

Model is 5'7" and wears a size S

Fabric & care

Mul — from the Persian malmal — is the fine, loosely woven cotton that gave the word muslin to English. Ours is woven in Nadia district at around 100 counts, fine enough to read through. It arrives slightly stiff from the sizing and softens over the first month of wear until it feels like it has always belonged to you. This is the cloth we recommend to anyone buying handloom for the first time.

Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle. Line dry. It will crease; that is the point.
